The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, set to commence on April 11. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face two-time champions Islamabad United in the opening match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The tournament will feature six teams competing in 34 matches from April 11 to May 18.
Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, recently renovated, will host 13 matches, including two eliminators and the final.
An exhibition match will take place in Peshawar on April 8, with team details to be disclosed later.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, including the qualifier on May 13.
National Bank Stadium in Karachi and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five matches. The tournament will include three double-headers, with two on Saturdays and one on Labour Day.
Karachi Kings, winners of PSL 5, will play their first match on April 12 against last season’s runners-up, Multan Sultans, at their home ground.
Multan Sultans will host Lahore Qalandars on April 22 for their first home game of the season.
Gaddafi Stadium’s first match will take place on April 24, featuring Lahore Qalandars against Peshawar Zalmi.
Peshawar Zalmi will play five matches at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while Quetta Gladiators, winners of PSL 4, will play five matches at Gaddafi Stadium.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer expressed enthusiasm about the tournament’s landmark 10th edition, emphasizing PSL’s global recognition and commitment to expanding cricket in Pakistan. He highlighted the inclusion of an exhibition match in Peshawar as a major step towards promoting cricket in the region.
All six franchises finalized their squads during the draft held in Lahore on January 13.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell was the first pick of the season, chosen by Lahore Qalandars. He is set to make his PSL debut this year.
PCB also announced an additional $100,000 payment for six high-profile international players participating in the tournament. The base salary for overseas players was set at $200,000.
Several overseas players who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction joined PSL franchises through the draft. Notable players include David Warner, Kane Williamson, Finn Allen, Matthew Short, Sean Abbott, Nahid Rana, Liton Das, Michael Bracewell, Rassie van der Dussen, and Corbin Bosch.
This edition marks the first time PSL and IPL will overlap, as the IPL is scheduled from March 21 to the end of May.
