SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is the most heavily militarized zone in the world and that India has snatched every right, including the right to speech and the right to hold political activities in the territiry.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said the BJP regime is not even allowing Kashmiris to assemble and speak their minds, and has gagged the media while journalists are harassed without any reason.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir was the core dispute between India and Pakistan with far-reaching implications for the region and the world at large. “It is imperative to seek a peaceful resolution of this longstanding dispute as per relevant UN Security Council Resolutions,” the statement said.
“Kashmir is the most heavily militarized zone in the world,” the APHC said, adding that atrocities committed by Indian forces in IIOJK and the denial of the fundamental right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people depicted Indian imperialistic ambitions.
The APHC spokesman said that the Indian BJP government and Hindu extremist organizations like Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, VHP and Bajrang Dal are thrusting their Hindutva agendas and narratives on the people of the internationally recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The statement pointed out that the BJP regime was using its military, police and agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) to force the Kashmiri people to accept BJP’s Hindutva dictates.
The APHC said the Indian BJP government must remember that bullets and guns have never been able to suppress people’s aspirations. The APHC urged the world to come forward to save the Kashmiris from Hindutva fascism being thrust on them by the Modi regime.
The statement also expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of political detainees, including the leadership languishing in different jails of India and IIOJK, and urged for their immediate release. The Hurriyat leaders maintained that Kashmiris were determined to carry on their political struggle for their righteous demand for the right to self-determination against all odds.
